Hands-On, Minds-On: Unveiling China's Teaching Factory Revolution at CAU

On March 18, 2025, the delegation from MCI was specially invited to visit China Agricultural University (CAU), where they had the opportunity to tour the prestigious National Center for International Research in BioEnergy Science and Technology. This center specializes in cutting-edge research and development of sustainable bioenergy solutions, integrating biotechnology and renewable energy technologies to advance agricultural sustainability and environmental protection.

During the visit, delegates also learned about CAU's innovative educational approaches, particularly the implementation of the Teaching Factory (TEFA) and Work-Based Learning (WBL) models. TEFA provides students with hands-on, practical training within a real industrial environment, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical industry skills. Concurrently, the WBL approach involves collaboration with industries to ensure that the curriculum is closely aligned with current market demands and technological advancements, offering students direct exposure to workplace scenarios and professional practices.

Additionally, the delegates noted that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has become deeply embedded within China's educational culture. This emphasis on vocational education significantly contributes to China's ability to rapidly develop a skilled workforce aligned with contemporary industrial requirements, further promoting economic growth and technological innovation.
